You'll still have to pay for the labor, though. I believe this is US$160 for two years, but then you'll probably need to add another $100 or so for an hour of dealer labor.Īccording to the TSB, you could also get the base map data updated without extending the subscription the technician just doesn't generate a new license key. That's how you get updates to the base map data - every time you extend the subscription, they'll update the map data stored in the head unit. If you sign up to extend the service, the dealer will need to perform a base map update from a USB stick and enter a license code that will extend the subscription for another two years. I have never understood why paying to extend the Dynamic Nav system beyond the three years always says "plus dealer labor" next to the price. T-SB-0047-19 (available from NHTSA here) provides the instructions the dealer needs to follow to update the base map data from a USB stick. It's just not storing it anywhere permanently.
